Denon DCD-1700NE – CD/SACD Player with Advanced AL32 Processing Plus

The Denon DCD-1700NE is a premium Super Audio CD and CD player engineered for high-fidelity two-channel music playback. It combines Denon's proprietary S.V.H. disc mechanism with Advanced AL32 Processing Plus, a Burr-Brown PCM1795 192kHz/32-bit DAC, DAC Master Clock Design and carefully separated digital and analogue circuitry. In addition to conventional CDs and SACDs, the DCD-1700NE supports high-resolution music files recorded on compatible DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW media, including PCM files up to 192kHz/24-bit and DSD up to 5.6MHz.

Key Features

  • Super Audio CD Playback: Supports SACD playback in addition to conventional audio CDs for high-resolution disc-based listening.
  • Advanced AL32 Processing Plus: Denon's proprietary digital processing uses data interpolation, up-sampling and bit-extension technologies to reconstruct audio waveforms with greater precision.
  • PCM1795 DAC: Uses a Burr-Brown PCM1795 192kHz/32-bit digital-to-analogue converter.
  • DAC Master Clock Design: Uses a high-precision master clock positioned within the DAC architecture to help minimise jitter.
  • Denon S.V.H. Mechanism: The Suppress Vibration Hybrid loader is designed for stable and accurate reading of SACD, CD and compatible data discs.
  • High-Resolution Audio: Supports compatible PCM music files up to 192kHz/24-bit from DVD media.
  • DSD Playback: Supports DSD 2.8MHz and 5.6MHz files recorded on compatible DVD media.
  • Data DVD Support: Plays compatible audio files from DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R and DVD+RW discs.
  • Pure Direct Mode: Allows the display and digital outputs to be switched off to minimise potential interference during analogue playback.
  • High-Grade Audio Components: Uses carefully selected and customised components throughout the audio circuitry.
  • Symmetrical Circuit Layout: Internal circuitry is arranged to help maintain balanced signal paths and minimise interference.
  • Separated Power Circuits: Separate rectifier circuitry is used for analogue and digital sections.
  • Direct Mechanical Ground Construction: Mechanical design helps direct unwanted vibration away from sensitive audio circuitry.
  • Gold-Plated RCA Output: Provides a high-quality fixed two-channel analogue connection to an amplifier or preamplifier.
  • Optical & Coaxial Digital Outputs: Allows compatible PCM audio to be sent to an external DAC or digital-equipped amplifier.

System Integration

The Denon DCD-1700NE is designed as a dedicated high-quality disc source for a stereo hi-fi system. Its fixed stereo RCA output can connect directly to a line-level input on an integrated amplifier or preamplifier. For conventional compatible PCM signals, optical and coaxial digital outputs allow connection to an external DAC or digital-equipped amplifier. SACD high-density layer audio is reproduced through the player's internal DAC and analogue output rather than the optical or coaxial digital outputs.
