John Cameron Mitchell writes, directs, and stars in this musical comedy based on his play of the same name. Hedwig (Mitchell) is a transgender rocker who has had her fair share of bad luck and has now taken to stalking rock star Tommy Gnosis (Michael Pitt). The two first met in the early 1990s and quickly embarked on a passionate love affair. However, Tommy struggled with Hedwig’s identity and ultimately ran away, stealing her songs to launch his own successful career. Now, Hedwig is back to reclaim her place and get the recognition she deserves.
