The max bill Chronoscope Bauhaus brings Junghans’ mechanical watchmaking into the disciplined visual language of the Bauhaus. Based on the design principles of Max Bill, the watch keeps the dial remarkably restrained despite housing a full chronograph. A matte white surface, fine hour markers and two neatly integrated counters are punctuated by red detailing on the hands and date display, giving the watch its distinctive Bauhaus character.
Inside is Junghans’ automatic J880.2 movement, offering a power reserve of up to 48 hours and driving the chronograph with 30-minute and 12-hour counters. The 40 mm matte stainless-steel case is topped by a domed, anti-reflective sapphire crystal and paired with a black leather strap.
The caseback is one of the most considered details of the watch. It carries a partially transparent rendering of the Bauhaus building, with its windows revealing sections of the mechanical movement beneath. A small red accent references the building’s famous red doors, tying the architecture directly back to the watch’s restrained use of colour.
