The Rega Planar 6 is a precision belt-drive turntable built around an ultra-lightweight Tancast 8 foam-core plinth, high-rigidity HPL construction and Rega's RB330 precision tonearm. This configuration is supplied without a cartridge, allowing the cartridge to be selected separately. A Neo power supply is supplied as standard for electronic speed selection, fine speed adjustment and advanced motor control.
The RB330 is Rega's precision tonearm, designed using 3D CAD and CAM technology. Its redesigned bearing housing, carefully distributed tonearm mass and high-precision bearings are intended to provide stable, low-friction movement and accurate cartridge tracking.

The Planar 6 uses an ultra-lightweight Tancast 8 polyurethane foam-core plinth developed to provide a rigid, low-mass platform. The foam core is sandwiched between high-pressure laminate skins, combining low mass with structural rigidity.
Rega's double-brace technology reinforces the critical areas around the tonearm and main bearing. The design concentrates structural rigidity where it is most important while retaining the lightweight construction of the Planar 6.
The Planar 6 uses a dual-layer float-glass platter designed to provide a stable platform for vinyl playback while maintaining the low-mass philosophy of the turntable.
The Planar 6 uses a 24 V low-noise synchronous motor that is individually matched to its Neo power supply. The supplied Neo PSU provides electronic speed selection, advanced anti-vibration motor control and fine speed adjustment. Current Planar 6 models ship with the Neo MK2 PSU as standard.
| Motor | 24 V Low-Noise Synchronous Motor |
|---|---|
| Drive System | Belt Drive |
| Power Supply | Rega Neo MK2 PSU |
| Speed Selection | Electronic 33⅓ / 45 RPM |
| Fine Speed Adjustment | Yes |
The Reference EBLT drive belt is fitted as standard. It transfers drive from the motor pulley to the platter system and is designed for stable and accurate rotational performance.
The Planar 6 does not include a built-in phono stage. Since this configuration is supplied without a cartridge, the appropriate phono stage depends on the cartridge selected. An MM phono stage is required with an MM cartridge, while a suitable MC phono stage is required with an MC cartridge. Rega's Planar 6 manual specifically states that the tonearm phono leads must be connected to a suitable phono stage according to the chosen cartridge type.
| Built-In Phono Stage | No |

| Cartridge | Not Included |
| MM Cartridge | Use a Suitable MM Phono Stage |
| MC Cartridge | Use a Suitable MC Phono Stage |
| Output Connection | RCA / Phono |
| Finish | Polaris Grey Matt |

| Finish | Matt White |
The current Planar 6 is available in Polaris Grey and Matt White finishes.
The tonearm provides the analogue phono signal through the supplied phono leads. These should be connected to a suitable external phono stage before the signal is sent to a standard line-level input on an amplifier or active audio system.
