Record Store Day (India) 2017 Poster
We are excited to unveil the Revolver Club’s Record Store Day poster designed by Karen Vaswani.
Karen is a veteran graphic designer who worked with with Lintas, Grey Worldwide, UTV and Ram Mohan’s Animation before turning independent. She has since worked with clients across sectors and taken several brands national.
Karen recently won world-wide recognition for the logo she designed for Mother Teresa’s Canonisation held on the 4th of September last year. The Vatican, in fact, replaced an existing official logo with the one she designed.
Karen is the lead singer and keyboardist for a jazz/pop band called the Rocking Marmalade.
Karen believes music transcends cultures and brings people together. Her design clearly coveys this philosophy.
"The globally celebrated Record Store Day has finally come to India and while all their poster designs across the world strive for a certain vintage rock look I thought ours had to be subtle yet distinctly Indian with elements that stand for music and rhythm and are classic and timeless but with a funky fusion twist. So from the vibrant burst of colours of the smiling Kathakali dancer in the corner, to the characteristic Indian font complimented with Indian motifs, this poster says 'Hello India! Record Store Day is here to stay.'
