Revival of Hindi Music on Vinyl
It’s a comeback that few would have predicted a decade ago. A resurgence in an era where listeners prefer the convenience of music streaming platforms or download over physical formats like CDs.
Vinyl, that has long remained the interest of loyalists who refused to part with their turntables, is slowly becoming popular with the current generation of listeners. More so with those who live by Hindi music.
No wonder music companies have warmed up to the idea of reviving the format to meet the burgeoning demand. They have begun to release classics on records.
Film albums like Mughal-e-Azam, Pakeezah, Kati Patang, Don, Laawaris, Shaan are becoming a regular feature on record store shelves. Many more are in the pipeline.
Part of this revival can be attributed to the warm superior quality of analog sound. Needless to say, the demand for turntables is growing in tandem.

However, some remain skeptical about the format. But if we go by the growing demand of new titles, the future of the black shiny disc doesn't seem so bleak. Besides, a hint of vintage delight always adds a new dimension to the digitally recorded sounds of today. There are exciting times ahead for the Hindi film music buff!
