What are your favourite genres of Music and your all-time favourite musician?
40 years back I was really into ghazals so I used to buy records from Chor bazaar,
How and why did you get into record business?
This is not a family business. I was born and brought up in Mumbai. I used to tour around the country for work and buy records from different cities, mostly Bollywood film records but I’d keep the ghazals for myself. When I started collecting records I began selling it to people here and that’s how the business started.
Slowly and gradually they got to know me and my records. I started this business from home and till date, I work from home and people come and buy records from me

What types of records do you keep?
Everything from Regional, Indian Classical, Bollywood to Rock, Jazz and Western music.
Tell us a little about your clientele, and How have they changed over the years and Do you get young clients?
There’s a huge difference between our former and current clients. I have old and trusted clients from Mumbai as well as Delhi. Even the famous record sellers from Mumbai buy records from me. People kept asking me where I’d get these records from. I used to run out of visiting cards because I just handed it over to anyone and everyone who asked me about records.

Have you felt the revival of Vinyl?
In my opinion, it’s only getting started. It’s not the same as before; that was the golden age of vinyl. Now it’s mostly youngsters who find records cool and want to get involved in the vinyl culture.
