Description

Paul Muni, George Raft, and Ann Dvorak star in this gangster classic directed by Howard Hawks. Set in 1920s Chicago, ambitious Italian immigrant Tony Camonte (Muni) works his way up through the ranks of a bootlegging operation. As he ruthlessly eliminates his competition, he becomes more powerful, drawing attention from rival gangsters and law enforcement eager to put an end to his reign of terror.

However, it is his relationship with his younger sister Francesca (Dvorak), whom he is fiercely overprotective of, that ultimately leads to his downfall. The cast also includes Karen Morley, Boris Karloff, and Osgood Perkins.
