Description
Paul Muni, George Raft, and Ann Dvorak star in this gangster classic directed by Howard Hawks. In 1920s Chicago, ambitious Italian immigrant Tony Camonte (Muni) works his way up through the ranks of a bootlegging operation. As he ruthlessly takes out his competition, he becomes more powerful and draws attention from other gangsters as well as the police, who want to put a stop to his violent activities.
However, it is his relationship with his younger sister Francesca (Dvorak), of whom he is fiercely overprotective, which will bring about his ruin. The cast also includes Karen Morley, Boris Karloff, and Osgood Perkins.
