Rega Planar 1 Turntable

The Rega Planar 1 is a plug-and-play belt-drive turntable designed to deliver high-quality analogue playback with minimal setup. It combines Rega's hand-assembled RB110 tonearm, factory-fitted Carbon moving magnet cartridge, 24 V low-noise synchronous motor and high-mass phenolic resin platter in a lightweight, rigid plinth design. The automatic bias adjustment on the RB110 tonearm makes the Planar 1 particularly straightforward to install and use.

RB110 Tonearm

The RB110 tonearm is hand assembled by Rega and uses Rega-designed ultra-low-friction bearings. Its integrated bias assembly provides automatic bias adjustment, removing the need for manual bias calibration and helping make the Planar 1 exceptionally simple to set up.

Rega Carbon Cartridge

The Planar 1 comes with a factory-fitted Rega Carbon moving magnet cartridge, allowing the turntable to be used with a compatible MM phono input or external MM phono stage without requiring a separate cartridge installation.

24 V Synchronous Motor

A bespoke 24 V low-noise synchronous motor provides the drive system. The motor is designed to minimise vibration while maintaining stable platter rotation. The latest EBLT drive belt is supplied as standard for improved speed accuracy and performance.

Phenolic Resin Platter

The Planar 1 uses a 23 mm high-mass phenolic resin platter designed to provide a flywheel effect that helps improve rotational stability. A record mat is supplied with the platter.

Precision Main Bearing

The Planar 1 incorporates a precision brass main bearing housing designed to improve the fit between the bearing components and reduce unwanted mechanical stress. This helps maintain stable platter operation and limits the transfer of unwanted energy through the bearing assembly.

Plinth & Isolation

The Planar 1 uses a lightweight, high-rigidity plinth designed to reduce unwanted mechanical energy. Rega's latest foot assembly provides a stable platform while helping reduce vibration transfer from the supporting surface.

Finish Options

The Walnut Effect version uses the same high-rigidity laminate construction as the standard Planar 1 and is supplied with a premium smoked dust cover. The Matt Black and Matt White versions are supplied with a clear dust cover.

Setup & Operation

The Planar 1 is designed for quick installation. The RB110 tonearm's bias is automatically set, while the supplied balance weight is positioned to its designated stop point. Playback speed is selected mechanically by moving the drive belt between the 33⅓ and 45 RPM positions on the pulley.

Connectivity

The turntable provides a phono-level output for connection to a suitable MM phono stage or amplifier with an MM phono input. The standard Planar 1 does not include a built-in phono stage.
