Hi-Fi Audio Systems in India at The Revolver Club
Hi-fi audio systems have taken centre stage in the entertainment spaces of the current generation. Whether it’s a stereo system or a complete surround sound home theatre system, everything is slowly shifting towards the High Fidelity way. High Fidelity is defined by “the reproduction of sound with little distortion, giving a result very similar to the original.”
A High Fidelity audio system is a sound system that is capable of delivering rich, clean and crisp high fidelity audio. What sets the best hi-fi sound system apart from the rest of the systems in the market is the factor of distortion-free audio. This means the audio you listen to on some of the best hi-fi music systems, will reproduce sound the way it was produced. Think of your favorite music, wouldn’t you want to listen to the most authentic version? Will you be ok missing out on listening to the true hard work and creativity due to the distortions and heavy or weak bass that consumer sound systems create?
Folks who test the sound quality of a high fidelity audio system for the first time often get surprised. This is because they have probably never heard some of the finer details in the music that they have perhaps been listening to all their lives. Movies are no exception. One can truly experience all the ambient sounds and sound effects and all the actual hard work of the sound engineers behind blockbuster films when watching movies on a hi-fi home theater system.
So what sets apart the best hi-fi music system? Is it the science behind it? Or is there more than just science? Ask some of our passionate team members working in The Revolver Club and the answer you will get will be nothing but poetic.
Making the best hi-fi sound system involves art, craftsmanship, science, high-quality materials, passion and most of all a good pair of expert ears that can differentiate between a good audio system and a high fidelity audio system.
Manufactures like Rega, Marantz and Pro-Ject are different than Audio Technica as they are niche brands catering to only Hi-Fi Audio whereas Audio Technica has been mass producing some of the most reliable products for sound engineers and audio professionals around the globe. The niche brands put in a lot of passion, hard work and serious thought behind crafting a better speaker than the best stereo speaker in the market so as to stay in the game.
So what does all this hard work and passion cost to an avid high fidelity audio listener? Can money be enough? The simple answer is “No”. High Fidelity(Hi-Fi) audio is a journey and not a destination and this is why a true audiophile persistently learns and researches about various products available in the market and globally. Which amplifier will be suitable for your stereo speaker? Which turntable to buy to try the first time? Which is the best hi-fi audio system that will blow your mind completely? Digital lossless players or Analog vinyl record playing turntables?
These are some of the questions that often arise in the minds of new and budding audiophiles that are looking for the best hi-fi music system. The answers are all over the internet, but then one question has always bothered audiophiles, and that is the availability of some of the best hi-fi music system in India. The Revolver Club finally has an answer for every audiophile out there in India. Now you can buy some of the best hi-fi audio systems and some of the top hi-fi home theater system in India online at The Revolver Club store.
If you are looking to set up a Hi-Fi audio system, you need to first decide which space will be your listening space or room. Not paying attention to your listening spaces is a common mistake a lot of amateur audiophiles make as they are focused only on getting themselves their best hi-fi audio system. So if you are starting new, first concentrate on what you have and then move on to what you want to buy.
One needs to understand that sound is nothing but audio waves and these audio waves interact with the walls, ceiling, floor, furniture, and other objects and surfaces in the room including the people in it. These interactions cause two specific phenomenons, namely the room resonances and the room reflections. These two factors ultimately affect the feel of the sound you hear from High Definition audio systems. Let’s look at these two factors more in depth.
Effect of Reflections on Hi-Fi Audio Systems
Anyone with enough experience with sound can say that room acoustic treatment can improve the quality of sound of your hi-fi audio system. This is why to go hi-fi, you must first pay attention to acoustic treatments before you buy or upgrade anything to make your audio system a High Fidelity audio system. It is possible to resolve so much of detail when one learns to control room reflections. Also, keep in mind that you have to learn to control the room reflections and not eliminate them entirely. Your audio system will start sounding like a top home audio system when you improve the bass and that in turn improves the tonal balance.
In simpler words, reflections in the room, also called as room reflections are caused by sound, reflecting off of adjacent walls that combine with the direct sounds you hear from the speakers, these are mostly high frequencies. This is why the placement of the speakers needs to be precise.
Effect of Resonance on Hi-Fi Audio Systems
Why does understanding resonances of your room matter? It matters because Room resonances either reinforces or attenuates bass at frequency levels. This causes heavy and muddy bass or thin and weak bass. Resonances typically sound waves that are generated by the speakers between 20Hz to about 300Hz. A general room will have bass somewhere between 50Hz and 70Hz. If you would like to measure and identify the resonances in your room, you should use a room acoustics calculator. The calculation will determine the problem frequencies once you feed in the size and dimensions of the listening room.
Once you identify the problem in the frequencies, you can then start with compensating the resonance by placing the speaker in the right way. There are more than enough speaker placement and setup tips available online that will make your audiophile hi-fi system sound better. So let’s start with things that you shouldn’t do or what to avoid placing your speakers.
What to Avoid Placing Your Hi-Fi Speakers
- Avoid keeping anything between your primary listening spot and the speakers. This even includes small furniture fixtures such as stools, ottomans, books, DVDs or anything else solid or liquid.
- Avoid keeping the stereo speakers too close to the wall behind the speakers. Give them about two to three feet of space.
- Avoid placing the speakers directly on the floor if the speakers are not floor-standing speakers. Ideally, the height of the speakers should be ear level no matter how big or small it is.

How to Place Your Speakers for Best Hi-Fi AudioLet’s start with the two-channel speakers in the front along with the sub-woofer, which should also preferably be kept in the front. Ideally, all these three speakers (4 if you include the central channel of 5.1 or 7.1 home theatre speaker) should be kept at a minimum of 1 foot to 3 feet of length depending on how much space your listening room permits. This keeps the reflections from the front and the side walls to bare minimum and helps in taming the odd boomy bass.
The distance between the side wall and your speakers is also a significant factor and ideally should be 1.6 times the distance from the wall behind the speakers. This ratio is called the golden rectangle. For example, if the distance from the wall behind the speakers is 2 feet, then the speakers should be at least 3.2 feet away from the nearest side wall. Then just angle the speaker by 30 degrees to orient it towards the listening spot and you are good to go.
Remember, you can always research more and keep changing the placement of the speakers for the best listening experience. Also, keep in mind that you should always mark your previous best placement with masking tape so that you can always go back to your tried and tested setup. If the bass still feels boomy, then you can use bass traps that absorb bass at specific frequencies that help in overcoming room resonances.
Once you have these factors of your listening space sorted, you can move on to upgrading your speaker cables, your speaker stands (yes they do matter if your speakers are not floor standing speakers), audio cables(all sorts of them), AC power conditioner and bi-wiring speakers.
Now that you are all set to upgrade, and if your current stereo speakers or your existing home theatre speakers are consumer grade and not hi-fi, you should check out the variety of some of the top-rated stereo speakers and some of the best Home theatre speakers at The Revolver Club’s online retail store.
