Denon DP-400F [Plug & Play] Turntable

The Denon DP-400 is a premium belt-drive Hi-Fi turntable designed for simple, high-quality vinyl playback. It combines a pre-mounted MM cartridge, S-shaped static-balanced tonearm, built-in switchable phono equalizer and automatic tonearm lift at the end of a record. The turntable supports 33⅓, 45 and 78 RPM records and can be connected directly to a standard line-level input when the built-in phono equalizer is switched on. When connected to an amplifier with a dedicated PHONO input, the phono equalizer can be switched off. Its removable dust cover can also be used as a stand for displaying an album sleeve.

Built-In Phono Equalizer

The DP-400 includes a built-in switchable phono equalizer. With the equalizer switched ON, the turntable provides a line-level signal and can be connected directly to a conventional AUX, LINE or similar input. With the equalizer switched OFF, the turntable provides the cartridge's phono-level output and can be connected to a compatible PHONO input.

Dust Cover

The DP-400 uses a removable dust cover rather than a permanently attached hinged cover. The cover protects the turntable when stored and can also be positioned upright to display the sleeve of the record currently being played. Denon designed the removable arrangement to avoid the vibration issues that can occur with attached covers.

Plug & Play Setup

1. Place the DP-400 on a stable, level surface.
2. Install the platter and drive belt as instructed.
3. Connect the supplied RCA cable to the amplifier or powered speaker system.
4. For a normal AUX/LINE input, switch the built-in phono equalizer ON.
5. For a dedicated PHONO input, switch the phono equalizer OFF.
6. Connect the AC adapter and power on the turntable.
7. Select 33⅓, 45 or 78 RPM according to the record.
8. Place the record on the platter and lower the tonearm using the lifter lever.

Important Compatibility Note

The DP-400 has a switchable built-in phono equalizer. Do not use the built-in phono equalizer together with another active phono preamplifier or a PHONO input. For a PHONO input, switch the equalizer OFF. For AUX, LINE or other standard line-level inputs, switch the equalizer ON.
