Rega Apheta 3 MC Cartridge

The Apheta 3 is a low-output moving coil cartridge designed specifically to complement Rega's high-performance turntables, including the Planar 10. It uses a Fine Line profile nude diamond stylus, aluminium cantilever, high-powered neodymium magnet and hand-wound micro-coil. The cartridge uses Rega's three-point mounting system and can be supplied factory fitted as part of a Planar 10 package.

RB3000 Precision Tonearm

The RB3000 is Rega's reference precision tonearm, engineered around extremely precise bearings and a rigid, low-mass construction. It provides a stable platform for the Apheta 3 cartridge and is designed for accurate, low-friction groove tracking.

Tancast 8 Skeletal Plinth

The Planar 10 uses a lightweight Tancast 8 foam-core skeletal plinth with a high-pressure laminate skin. The design reduces unnecessary mass while maintaining a rigid mounting structure for the tonearm and main bearing.

Ceramic Double-Brace Construction

Rega's double-brace construction reinforces the critical area between the tonearm mounting and main bearing. The ceramic top brace provides a rigid platform while the skeletal plinth keeps the overall structure lightweight.

Ceramic Oxide Platter

The Planar 10 uses an 18 mm ceramic oxide platter that is diamond cut during manufacture for high levels of accuracy and speed stability. The platter forms a rigid, stable platform for vinyl playback.

P10 Power Supply & Motor Control

The dedicated P10 power supply controls the Planar 10's 24 V synchronous motor. It provides electronic 33⅓ and 45 RPM speed selection, electronic fine speed adjustment and advanced motor vibration reduction.

Reference EBLT Drive Belt

The Reference EBLT drive belt is fitted as standard and forms part of the Planar 10's precision belt-drive system. It is designed to provide consistent transfer of motor rotation to the platter.

Phono Pre-Amplifier Required

The Planar 10 does not include a built-in phono stage. The Apheta 3 is a low-output MC cartridge, so a suitable MC phono pre-amplifier is required. Rega specifies a 100 Ω input load and high gain for the Apheta 3.

Finish Options

The Planar 10 is currently available in Matt Polaris Grey and Matt White. Rega states that the white version is supplied with a clear dust cover and black mat.
