Rega Planar 3 RS Edition Turntable - Nd5 MM Cartridge 

The Rega Planar 3 RS Edition is a premium version of the iconic Planar 3 platform, featuring a distinctive dark brushed-metal HPL laminated plinth, factory-fitted Nd5 moving magnet cartridge, hand-assembled RB330 precision tonearm and a custom-matched Neo MK2 power supply. The combination of a rigid double-braced plinth, Reference EBLT drive belt and hand-tuned 24 V motor is designed to provide highly accurate and stable vinyl playback.

Brushed Metal HPL Plinth

The Planar 3 RS Edition uses a high-pressure laminate HPL plinth with a dark brushed-metal aluminium skin. The satin brushed-metal surface is complemented by high-gloss black edging, giving the RS Edition a distinctive premium appearance while increasing the rigidity of the plinth.

Rega's double-brace arrangement reinforces the critical area between the tonearm mounting and the main hub bearing. This creates a structurally rigid assembly designed to minimise unwanted resonance and energy absorption.

RB330 Tonearm

The RB330 is Rega's precision tonearm, developed using 3D CAD and CAM design techniques. Its redesigned bearing housing and tonearm tube use intelligent mass distribution to minimise resonance, while high-precision bearings provide extremely low-friction movement and stable cartridge tracking.

Nd5 Moving Magnet Cartridge

The Rega Nd5 is factory fitted to the RB330 tonearm. It uses a nude elliptical diamond stylus and a newly developed symmetrical generator geometry designed to provide accurate channel balance, improved linearity and enhanced high-frequency performance. The generator uses miniaturised parallel coils wound in-house with 38-micron wire.

Custom-Matched Neo MK2 PSU

The Planar 3 RS Edition includes a custom-matched Rega Neo MK2 PSU. Each turntable's motor vibration-control circuit is hand tuned to its individual motor. The Neo MK2 also provides electronic speed change and fine speed adjustment while incorporating an advanced anti-vibration motor circuit.

24 V Motor & Drive System

The turntable uses a 24 V low-noise, low-vibration motor that is individually matched and hand tuned to its Neo MK2 PSU. A custom CNC-machined aluminium pulley drives the sub-platter through Rega's Reference EBLT drive belt, providing precise speed control and stable rotation.

12 mm Optiwhite Glass Platter

A 12 mm Optiwhite polished glass platter provides the record-supporting surface. The polished edge and optically clear glass construction complement the premium RS Edition design while providing a rigid and stable rotating platform.

Central Bearing

The Planar 3 RS uses Rega's redesigned and patented brass main hub central bearing. Its improved fit and construction are designed to reduce stress within the bearing and maintain accurate platter rotation.

Dust Cover

A smoked dust cover is supplied as standard with the Planar 3 RS Edition, complementing the dark brushed-metal and black finish of the turntable.

Finish

Connectivity

The Planar 3 RS provides a standard RCA phono output and is designed to connect to an appropriate external phono stage or amplifier with a compatible phono input. The Neo MK2 PSU connects to the turntable through its Mini-DIN connection.

Dimensions & Weight

Dimensions are specified with the dust cover closed. The Neo MK2 PSU is a separate unit measuring 180 × 150 × 50 mm.
