TEAC TN-4D-SE Direct-Drive Turntable

The TEAC TN-4D-SE is a precision direct-drive analog turntable featuring a newly developed brushless DC motor with feedback control for highly stable rotation. Its slim design incorporates a knife-edge, pivot-point tonearm bearing system developed in collaboration with SAEC, a die-cast aluminium platter and a factory-installed SUMIKO Oyster MM cartridge. A built-in PHONO EQ amplifier provides convenient connection to both PHONO and LINE inputs.

Direct-Drive Motor

Unlike a belt-drive design, the TN-4D-SE connects the motor directly to the platter. Its newly developed brushless DC servo motor uses a feedback control system to maintain accurate rotational speed. The low-profile motor also allows TEAC to achieve a slim chassis design while maintaining stable platter rotation.

Aluminium Die-Cast Platter

The 30 cm aluminium die-cast platter provides a rigid, high-inertia platform for stable record playback. Its combination with the direct-drive motor contributes to accurate speed regulation and smooth rotation.

SAEC-Developed Tonearm

The TN-4D-SE uses an S-shaped static-balanced tonearm incorporating a knife-edge, pivot-point bearing system developed with SAEC. The bearing design allows smooth vertical movement and precise stylus tracking. The universal headshell fitting also makes cartridge and headshell changes straightforward.

SUMIKO Oyster MM Cartridge

The turntable is supplied with a factory-installed SUMIKO Oyster MM cartridge. The cartridge is mounted on the headshell and is designed to provide straightforward setup and compatibility with the TN-4D-SE's integrated MM PHONO EQ stage.

Built-In PHONO EQ Amplifier

The integrated PHONO EQ amplifier uses an NJM8080 op-amp designed for high-quality audio applications. It raises the low-level cartridge signal to line level, allowing the turntable to connect directly to a standard line-level input. The output can also be used in direct PHONO mode with an external phono stage.

Isolation & Cabinet Construction

The TN-4D-SE uses a low-profile cabinet with a multi-layer piano-black or natural walnut veneer finish. Its insulating feet combine a machined aluminium shell with a rubber cushion to absorb external vibration and help resist acoustic feedback.
