Engineered for uncompromising analog performance, the OMA Cast Iron SP-10 Plinth System transforms a legendary motor unit into a precision instrument. Designed specifically to accommodate the Technics SP-10 series (including MK2 and MK3), this plinth delivers mass, rigidity and resonance control in one elegant package.
Key Features:
CNC-machined from a single sand-casting of hypo-eutectic grey cast iron — the same class of iron used in industrial machine tools — providing exceptional structural stability and vibration dampening.
Underside lattice of cast chambers filled with a vibration-damping polymer, designed to eliminate mechanical noise and resonance before it reaches the stylus.
Removable armboards CNC-machined from torrefied (thermally modified) Pennsylvania ash: dimensionally stable, acoustically superior, and ready to accept tonearms from 9″ up to 12″ (or longer).
Feet mount with ¼″-20 hardware holes (standard in high-end audio racks); supplied with precision leveling feet.
Available finishes: Clear lacquer or black powder-coat.
Technical Specifications:
External dimensions (single-arm version): ~ 664 mm × 518 mm × 105 mm (26 1/8″ × 20 3/8″ × 4 1/8″)
Approximate weight: ~ 50 kg without motor unit.
Tonearm compatibility: Accepts tonearms with effective length from 9″ to 12″ (229 mm to 305 mm) and beyond via custom armboards.
Finish options: Clear lacquer or black powder-coat.
Why It Matters:
When you pair a high-precision motor such as the Technics SP-10 with a plinth of lesser quality, the motor’s capability is compromised by elasticity, resonance and instability. This OMA plinth system provides the inert, rigid, ultra-stable foundation that allows the SP-10 to operate at its designed level of mechanical performance: minimal distortion, maximum signal fidelity, and an interface between turntable and room that disappears. In short: the plinth becomes part of the sound chain, not just the base it sits on.
Ideal For:
Audiophiles, mastering engineers, and serious vinyl lovers who already own (or are installing) a Technics SP-10 motor unit and wish to extract its full potential. This plinth is especially suited for installations where engineering and sonic integrity matter: dedicated listening rooms, high-end systems, silent racks and custom analog environments.
Ordering & Delivery Info:
Made-to-order: each plinth is CNC-machined and finished per order; typical lead time to dispatch to India may vary — please contact us for current status.
Shipping note: due to its mass (~50 kg) and size, special freight handling applies; please ensure suitable support structure and loading/unloading setup at destination.
Installation note: The SP-10 motor unit (and tonearm/cartridge) are not included; this listing covers the plinth only.
Please verify tonearm dimensions and mounting requirements before confirming armboard choice or customisation.
Use Cases & Setup Tips:
Ensure the rack or furniture supporting the plinth is level, rigid and vibration-controlled; the benefit of the plinth is maximised only when the supporting structure is inert.
Allow sufficient clearance around the plinth for tonearm adjustments, cable routing and service access — ~600 mm recommended on all sides.
Use precision feeler gauges or digital spirit level during installation to confirm that the armboard surface is level in both axes; fine tonal improvement has been reported from sub-0.1° deviation.
After installation, allow at least 48 hours of idle settling before critical listening: cast iron and polymer layers can stabilise during initial use.
