How long have you been collecting records for?
I am a third generation record collector. I was passed on the baton about 10 yrs ago.
How Large is your vinyl collection?
I started with a collection of 120 top records which I inherited from my grandfather and father. Then I was given a collection of about 100 78 rpm shellacs from my father in law. From there with TRC and my friends in the collecting circles I have grown to around 500 records and shellacs

Which is the most valuable record in your collection?
I have no favorites as a collector. I like to say that I collect vinyl based on music memory and I will go to my oldest memories as a child to collect exactly that particular album, it could be a Indian classical album I would listen to with my grandfather as a child or a talat mehmood song that my parents would play to make me fall asleep or a disco time that I would dance as a kid when my grandfathers friends came visiting from England. For me it’s a constant quest to dig out such memories through music that take me to another era another place. I almost never buy older albums because they are rare or valuable or if someone tells me they are a great investment.
Tell us about your turntable setup
I have two set ups one in my house in poona which is more a vintage turntable setup with a pioneer pl 25 hooked to a Marantz amplifier and Polk speakers and my everyday set up in Bombay hooked to a Harmon kardon amp with JBL speakers and a run of the mill Denon turntable. I live next to the sea so the life of my hi fi systems has always been limited because of heavy corrosion. I have some other vintage turntables from the 70’s like a Sony and Technics which will eventually be restored and hooked up.
Any advice to people that are about to start their collection?
Find your own journey to collecting vinyl. Make it interesting, set up your own rules and stick to them and believe me you will have a blast. Finally I am blessed to have a great store in TRC next to my house. I have made new friends and find great technical support from the team.
