How long it has been since you are a record collector? Its been just about a year that I started collecting. For me every record is a story in itself. The cover and the inner jackets gives a glimpse of an artist. Have very fond memories of my dad listening to Jim Reeves on his philips turntable. But like many of us he too moved away from turntables to cassettes. So always had at the back of my mind to start afresh. It was my neighbor Mr.Prasad who is an avid collector inspiring me to get back to listening to Vinyls. My wife and son are loving the freshness of the sound and love listening to Mozart or Beethoven at night. I am sure there isint any looking back from now on..
How Large is your vinyl collection? The collection has grown substantially to around 195 records. Have managed to get my hands on some good Western and Indian classical.
Which is the most valuable record in your collection? To single out any one would be difficult. I admire listening to Raag Darbari by Amjad Ali Khan and also When Time stood still by Pandit Shivkumar Sharma and Ustad Zakir Hussain.
Tell us about your turntable setupCurrently I am using a Audio Technica AT-LP3BK and edifier R1280T. However I shall be getting a new Reloop Turn3 with ortofon red stylus in the next few weeks.
Any advice to people that are about to start their collectionIts time we revive Vinyls. The sound quality for me is the closest to a live performance. One has to be on the hunt always to find good records. But it has been one of my most satisfying hobby. To begin with start with few records and understand and feel the sound. I am sure your love for it would grow stronger
