How did you first get into collecting records?
I was always a music lover, and over time, I realised how important good equipment is for a nice listening session. Slowly, I started investing in better-quality equipment and also started building my record collection, partially for the aesthetics and mainly as motivation to build a set-up which appreciates vinyl and get into vinyl listening.
What’s your turntable setup like?
I currently have a very basic set-up: A stanmore 2 speaker, an Echo Dot as the streamer (for that aux input vs Bluetooth) and an old generic record player (probably purchased at a vintage shop just as a home decor by my parents). However, I am building a decent set-up, I have purchased a WiiM Ultra Streamer, a WiiM Vibelink Amplifier (100w at 8ohms), and I am currently testing out passive bookshelf speakers to anchor this set-up (Most likely will choose between KEF Q350, Klipsch RP-600m ii, or the Bowers and Wilkins 606 S2) and ideally the Audio Technica LP120XUSB for my turntable (Will settle for the LP70XUSB if I'm unable to source the former).
What’s your best advice for people starting their vinyl journey?
Invest in good equipment and respect it; do take care of it. It is very important to have good equipment in order to get a true audiophile listening experience and extract the most out of the vinyl, what they are designed for, they will appreciate them much more with such a set-up. Beyond that, it will also ensure the longevity of their precious vinyl. It is an expensive hobby to get into and requires even more dedication to maintain it, be sure of you're getting into, if all goes right, this will be one of your best decisions for life, if not, they'll make for good decor :)
