Not long! I mean my dad and mom had a collection and I only started getting into it and buying my own around 6-8 years ago.
How Large is your vinyl collection?
I’ve been moving cities and houses for years now so the collection I inherited from my parents has gradually depleted, thanks to unfavourable weather conditions causing warping and damage. I think back home, we still have around 60 odd records and I keep around 15-20 on me where I currently live, which I keep adding to every time I travel. Bombay weather isn’t great for protecting these babies so I’m keeping the count small and not being too ambitious.
Which is the most valuable record in your collection?
My dad’s pink floyd ones and my massive attack and Radiohead ones.
It’s super basic. I have a denon that I plug into my Marshall. But I’m eyeing the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon... for no particular reason 😜
Any advice to people that are about to start their collection?
Start small, there’s nothing to be embarrassed about a humble collection. I believe you’d rather take years to really figure out what you love and take care of a small number of records than try and amass an “enviable” collection that you don’t truly understand or love deeply.
