Samir Parikh

I started collecting records about 10 years ago thanks to my wife who at the time thought it was a good idea to gift me a turntable. How she regrets that decision now!
In 2007/8 as it was difficult to source records in India, I would scout for record stores while travelling abroad and buy as many records as i could.
Discogs also made life easier in those days and has contributed greatly in building my collection.
How Large is your vinyl collection?
It is nearing the 500 mark consisting primarily of classic, alternative, punk and indie rock.

Which is the most valuable record in your collection?
I value them all considering the time, effort and money invested to acquire them….however as per Discogs these records are currently worth the most (monetarily) from my collection:
Pink Floyd The Early Years boxset
Devils & Dust - Bruce Springsteen
On An Island - David Gilmour (2006 1st pressing)
Coverdale Page - Coverdale Page
Shangri-La - Mark Knopfler
Purple - Stone Temple Pilots
In Rainbows - Radiohead (2007 Ltd. Boxset)
The Doors Vinyl Box
No Line On The Horizon - U2
I recently managed to get a copy of Richard Ashcroft's Natural Rebel LP signed by the man himself and being a huge Verve fan, this is a highly treasured addition.

Tell us about your turntable setup
Nothing fancy. A vintage Technics SL 1300 direct drive with a Shure M97xe, Cambridge Audio CP1 preamp, Cambridge Audio Azur 640 integrated amp & Definitive Technology speakers.
I keep switching between a Shure M97xe and a Shure M55e on my turntable.

Any advice to people that are about to start their collection?
