The DUAL PRIMUS MAXIMUS is a limited-edition reference turntable, handmade to order in Germany and produced in a limited run of just 100 units. It combines DUAL's direct-drive technology with a substantial MDF and aluminium plinth, a solid-machined aluminium platter and a precision twin-gimbal tonearm. The turntable is supplied with a factory-installed Ortofon Quintet Bronze MC cartridge and is designed specifically for high-quality analogue playback.

Reference Direct-Drive System

The PRIMUS MAXIMUS uses a reference direct-drive motor system developed and manufactured in Germany. The motor regulation prioritises rotational stability and smooth running rather than the high torque and rapid start-up characteristics associated with DJ-oriented turntables.

Solid Aluminium Platter

The turntable uses a precision-machined solid aluminium platter. Its substantial mass is matched to the direct-drive motor regulation to maintain stable rotation and minimise unwanted speed variation. A 4.5 mm rubber mat provides additional damping between the record and platter.

Precision Twin-Gimbal Tonearm

The PRIMUS MAXIMUS features a precision twin-gimbal tonearm supported by four pivot ball bearings. The tonearm incorporates a dynamically balanced design with damping and uses a torsion spring for tracking-force adjustment. Its construction allows accurate adjustment of tracking force, anti-skating and tonearm height.

Ortofon Quintet Bronze MC Cartridge

The PRIMUS MAXIMUS is supplied with a factory-installed Ortofon Quintet Bronze moving-coil cartridge. The cartridge is matched to the turntable's tonearm and provides a high-performance MC configuration for detailed analogue playback.

Plinth & Finish

The PRIMUS MAXIMUS uses a substantial solid MDF plinth combined with a machined solid aluminium baseplate. Critical components including the motor, platter and tonearm are mounted to the thick aluminium base structure. The plinth is finished with individually selected real-wood veneers, giving each unit an individual appearance.

Analogue Connectivity

The tonearm connects through a 5-pin tonearm connector to an RCA cable. The PRIMUS MAXIMUS is designed for connection to a dedicated phono input or external phono stage. It does not provide a line-level or digital output.
