The Story:
The Seiko 5 Sports Speedtimer Ref. 6139-7011 is an outlier in the 6139/6138 series because of its numerical "military" dial with hours and no applied markers.
It was clearly intended that way because the numerals make it easier to read, and Japanese JASDF (Japan Air Self-Defense Force) pilots used this specific configuration for that reason.
It's unclear whether this dial configuration was initially created for the JASDF before being made available to the general public or the reverse, but one thing is for certain: this reference is among the series' most aesthetically pleasing ones.
This timepiece is a rare Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) version of the 6139 type Chronograph with the desirable Speedtimer script on the dial and 70m proof printed at 9 PM. All of the markers and numerals are white, and the dial is matte black. Lume dots that are still glowing are used to indicate the hours in addition to the bright orange chronograph hands and the luminous white hours/minutes hands.
