On April 3, 2026, during his sold-out show at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, Kanye West brought out Lauryn Hill for their first ever live performance of “All Falls Down” together. The song has sat near the center of his catalogue since 2004, and Hill’s appearance gave the moment historical weight. It also sharpened the frame for Bully, which had arrived days earlier with anticipation, revision, and scrutiny.
By the time Bully hit streaming on March 28, listeners had spent months with fragments of it. There had been the Haikou reveal, the early circulation of “Beauty and the Beast” and “Preacher Man,” and the long afterlife of leaks, alternate versions, and fan-led reconstruction. The album did not arrive as a blank slate. It arrived with earlier forms already fixed in people’s heads, which meant the official release was judged against memory as much as against the music.
The reaction on Reddit reflected this mood. On hiphopheads, listeners argued over whether the digital release improved on the leaked and physical material, while others stayed focused on uneven vocals and the possibility of further changes. On GoodAssSub, some fans called it his best rapping in years, while others said the album still needed stronger mixing and less AI-like vocal processing. The split was not simple approval or rejection. People were listening for what had changed and whether the final version sounded fully owned.
James Blake’s request to be removed from the credits on “This One Here” made this uncertainty harder to ignore. Blake said the released version no longer reflected the production he had originally made. The AI question stayed in the background as well, despite Ye’s insistence that the album used no AI.
The production still gives Bully its strongest argument. “Preacher Man” draws from the Moments’ “To You with Love.” “Circles” reaches for Cortex’s “Huit Octobre 1971.” “Beauty and the Beast” flips the Mad Lads’ “Don’t Have to Shop Around.” The title track goes to Asha Bhosle’s “Mujhe Maar Daalo.” For Indian listeners, this sample carries immediate recognition and gives the album one of its most memorable turns.
