Becoming Djo: How Joe Keery took the No.1 spot from Taylor Swift
On January 2nd, 2026, “End of Beginning” went to Number 1 in Spotify’s Top 50 Global chart. It first entered the UK chart in February 2024, peaked at Number 4, and then came back for the top spot within a week. Why did a 2022 album track wait so long to win?
Joe Keery’s music story starts long before Stranger Things. As a tween he wanted the School of Rock dream for real, so he and a friend started playing. He grew up on his parents’ staples like The Beatles, and his first concert was Bruce Springsteen when he was 11. In high school he practiced guitar in a freezing garage, then moved into Chicago’s scene and released records with the psych rock band Post Animal.
Then Netflix pulled him out of that world. Stranger Things demanded time in Atlanta, and he has said he felt a huge fear of missing out on the community he left behind. He also worried about the “actor who releases an album” label, so he put his solo work under the name Djo to give himself a fair shot.
His solo work was never a quick celebrity drop. Twenty Twenty arrived in 2019, then Decide in 2022. For his third album, The Crux, he co-produced with Adam Thein at Electric Lady Studios in New York. It came out in April 2025 through AWAL. The rollout led with “Basic Being Basic” and a full touring run, with Post Animal appearing on select dates.
Keery has also admitted to imposter syndrome and anxiety around how seriously people take him. That pressure is part of the Djo project. It is pop music that sounds fun, while writing about attention and identity in a blunt way.
The song that finally broke through is about returning to Chicago, and it first took off as people used it under clips of their own home towns. In the UK it spent 28 weeks in the Top 100 before this latest leap. When the Stranger Things finale landed in the UK on New Year’s Day, the track surged again, and it even knocked Taylor Swift off Spotify’s Global Chart.
That is the real lesson. Virality did not create Keery’s music career. It exposed the one he had been building all along.

Losing my crypto to an online scam was a frustrating and overwhelming experience. I was worried about my funds and unsure where to turn for reliable guidance. After reaching out to Wizard James Recovery, I received assistance in understanding the steps involved in my case. Their team communicated with me throughout the process, answered my questions, and provided guidance that helped me better understand my options. What I appreciated most was the time taken to explain things clearly and address my concerns. Having someone explain the available options and recovery procedures made the situation easier to navigate.
Overall, I appreciate the support and guidance I received from Wizard James Recovery. Saving my crypto funds in a cold wallet did not save me from an attack when hackers gained access to my crypto portfolio. I watched everything I had worked so hard to build disappear in the blink of an eye. It felt so unreal. I had always thought that cold wallets were the safest way to store crypto “naive me”.
It took me days to realize what had happened to me. I was under the weather and felt like a walking corpse until Morphohack came to my rescue. They are a well-known data and funds recovery team whose contact information I came across on the dark web.
Morphohack helped me recover everything I thought I had lost. What initially seemed like the end of everything turned out to be a wake up call for me. Morphohack recovered my crypto, helped me secure it better, and taught me other ways to safely protect myself from future attacks.
The Morphohack team was very reliable throughout the recovery process, and I was fortunate to have been able to recover my crypto funds. I’m incredibly grateful that I was able to get back what I thought was gone forever. Morphohack can be contacted via email at Morphohack@cyberservices.com and be rest assured, they can handle any recovery case discreetly and professionally.

I want to use this Medium to say big thanks to WIZARD GEO COORDINATES RECOVERY HACKER. I met someone online. He told me how he was making money in the crypto world and got me involved. At first, I was making money until I invested up to $525,000 in this investment scheme. She promised to speak to her husband, who happened to know a company specializing in recovering assets lost through fake investment companies. They gave me the contact for WIZARD GEO COORDINATES RECOVERY HACKER. After reaching out to them, they asked for all the necessary details about the investment and got to work.
