Chandrika Tandon, the Indian-American business leader and musician, secured a Grammy at the 67th awards for her album Triveni, which fuses ancient Vedic chants with world music. The album, named after the confluence of three rivers, won in the Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album category. Collaborating with South African flautist Wouter Kellerman and Japanese cellist Eru Matsumoto, Tandon crafted a meditative musical journey focused on inner healing.

Raised in a traditional Chennai household steeped in the Samaveda and Carnatic music, Tandon grew up surrounded by melody. Her younger sister, Indra Nooyi, later rose to prominence as the CEO of PepsiCo, while Tandon made history as the first Indian-American woman partner at McKinsey before founding New York-based Tandon Capital Associates. A graduate of IIM Ahmedabad, she became a respected business leader and philanthropist, donating $100 million with her husband, Ranjan, to the New York School of Engineering, which now bears their name.
Tandon’s musical journey has been just as remarkable. Trained under classical singer Shubhra Guha and vocalist Girish Wazalwar, she was first nominated for a Grammy in 2010 for Om Namo Narayana: Soul Call. This year, she shared the nomination stage with producer Ricky Kej, sitar virtuoso Anoushka Shankar, and British-Indian artist Radhika Vekaria, further highlighting the global influence of Indian-origin artists at the Grammys.
