Dolly Parton (19th January 1946 - 25th August 2026)
“It takes a lot of money to look this cheap.”
Dolly Parton knew how to make a joke out of the image she had created, but she also knew exactly what was behind it. Beneath the wigs, rhinestones and humour was a songwriter who understood the value of her words and a woman determined to make her own way.
Born in 1946, the fourth of twelve children in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, Parton grew up poor, with gospel music at the centre of family life. Her mother, Avie Lee, sang and wrote songs, and Dolly began writing as a child. At 13, she made her Grand Ole Opry debut.
When she joined The Porter Wagoner Show in 1967, women were already shaping country music, but Parton, alongside artists such as Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette, helped expand what women could say and do within it. She replaced Norma Jean and soon became one of the show’s biggest draws. When she left Wagoner in 1974, she wrote “I Will Always Love You” as her farewell.
The song found an extraordinary second life when Whitney Houston recorded it for The Bodyguard in 1992. Houston’s version became a worldwide phenomenon and earned Parton millions in royalties. She used some of that money to buy an office complex in a predominantly Black neighbourhood in Nashville, inspired by Houston and the community she came from. “I thought, ‘This is the perfect place for me to be, considering it was Whitney,’” Parton said. She later called it “the house that Whitney built.”
Her own songs gave women space to speak plainly. “Dumb Blonde” challenged female stereotypes. “Jolene” gave jealousy and vulnerability a voice. “Just Because I’m a Woman” confronted a double standard, while “Coat of Many Colors” turned childhood poverty into dignity. Then came “9 to 5”, an anthem for working women.
She carried that independence beyond music, building Dollywood and establishing the Imagination Library, which has now distributed more than 300 million books to children.
Dolly kept writing and performing into her later years. But perhaps the best way to remember her is in her own words: “Find out who you are and do it on purpose.”
She definitely did.

I won the lottery, and people kept asking me how I did it. Well, yes, there’s a little secret they never knew: I won the $80,000,000 jackpot with the help of Priest Alaska winning spell. He gave me the numbers to play and told me when to play, and I followed his instructions. My dear friends, getting rich is never a matter of luck; it’s something we all have to work for. There are people who have been playing the same lottery for years and have never won. We need to be on the right path to achieve what we want. I say this because I want the best for everyone. You can’t just win the lottery; you have to know exactly what to do, what to play, and when to play. This is a truth no one will tell you. If you want to win big, I advise you to talk to Priest Alaska and let him guide you on what to do and how to do it with his lottery spell. You can try it. I used to think that luck simply wasn’t on my side. For years, I played the lottery and never won more than a few pounds. One day, I stumbled upon the story of a mysterious spell caster known as Priest Alaska, who was said to help people attract fortune and positive energy. Curious yet skeptical, I decided to contact him. He spoke about focusing intentions, clearing away bad luck, and opening a path to abundance. I followed his advice to the letter, treating it as an act of faith or perhaps just a fun experiment. A week later, I played the numbers he had given me, incorporating a few small changes he had suggested. When the results were announced, I was absolutely stunned: I had just won £2.3 million. It felt unreal. Whether it was destiny, faith, or pure coincidence, that day changed my life forever. I share this story now not as proof of magic, but as a reminder that anything is possible when hope meets action. I recommend that anyone wanting to win big in the lottery contact Priest Alaska. I wish the best of luck to everyone reading this comment! Last year, I filed for bankruptcy after several business failures. I used to play the lottery just for fun, but as my financial situation worsened, I sought help to win a major prize; that was when I found a man named Priest Alaska, who has helped countless people around the world with their financial troubles. He cast a powerful spell for me that revealed secret lucky numbers. I played those numbers and, to my surprise, discovered I had won the $209.3 million Powerball jackpot after just 7 months and 14 days exactly as he had predicted. Today, I am debt-free and have various investments around the world. Without Priest Alaska, I would not have overcome the hardships I faced last year. As much as I am shocked and ecstatic to have won the Powerball drawing, the real winner is the California public school system. No one would convince me that winning this lottery Powerball or mega millions is not something that changes the way and view of life’s prospects. I won the Powerball Lottery on April 7 2026 and I am coming to say a wonderful and big thanks to Priest Alaska for helping me with the winning numbers for the Powerball Lottery. I was really overwhelmed the day I contacted Priest Alaska to help me win the California Powerball Lottery when he instructed me what to do. The time came to play the lottery and I did and believe me, it was exhilarating. I won the Powerball $2.04 Billion and collected the lump sum of $997.6 Million and the April Powerball drawing raised a record $156.3 million for the California public school system. I am indeed grateful to Priest Alaska and others who helped me with their contact.
