Kraken: Japanese Style Alternative/Math-Rock In India

In recent times the Hallyu wave has really spread all over the country. Young people across India are obsessed with the latest trends in K-pop and K-dramas from South Korea.
While anime and Japanese music are still popular, it is nowhere close to the fandom of these two subcultures. It is pretty interesting then that a band like Kraken exists.

Kraken comprises of Moses Koul (guitar), Divij Kapoor (bass), Suyash Gabriel (drums) Reuben Das (Keyboards), and Vipul Varma (vocals).
While all the members of the quintet are virtuosos at their respective instruments often compared to legends like Polyphia and Chon in admiration, what makes Kraken really stand out is how they sound so similar to Japanese bands like Tricot, Cider girl, Aquarifa, Sokoninaru, and Ling Tosite Sigure.
With a plethora of bands being influenced by artists from the West, it feels surprisingly refreshing to hear Japanese-style alternative/math rock being sung in English. Kraken is undoubtedly a band to look out for in the future.
