Meri Zindagi: India's First All Female Mission Rock Band

In a country where the music industry is mostly male-dominated, a group of five young women from Uttar Pradesh is challenging the status quo and making their mark in the industry with their unique sound and powerful message.

Meri Zindagi, an all-female band was formed in 2010 by Dr. Jaya Tiwari and has been making waves in the music scene with its soulful compositions and thought-provoking lyrics. The band members comprise Dr. Jaya Tiwari, Purvi Malviya, Niharika Dubey, Meghana Shrivastava, and Saubhagya Dixit.

What sets Meri Zindagi apart is not just their music, but also their fashion sense. The band members perform in colorful sarees, a traditional Indian attire worn by women.

Their music focuses on social issues that affect women in India, such as sexual harassment, gender discrimination, and lack of education. Through their music, they aim to raise awareness and promote gender equality.

"We're just a group of middle-class women who balance our ordinary lives with our passion for music. We wake up early, jam until 7:30 am, then move on to our jobs, housework, or college. We multitask, singing and playing while doing our chores, and we love our lives!" says lead singer and founder Jaya Tiwari, who holds a Ph.D. in music and has been a radio jockey for over five years.

Meri Zindagi has played at various events, including music festivals, college fests, and government functions. Their performances are known for their high-energy and soulful renditions, leaving audiences captivated and inspired.

Meri Zindagi is a testament to the power of music as a tool for social change. The band's message of empowerment and equality is resonating with people from all walks of life, and their unique style and sound are breaking down barriers and challenging stereotypes.
