Summiteers: Gorillaz, India and the journey to Parvat
On February 27, Gorillaz release their ninth studio album, The Mountain (Parvat), marking the band’s 25th anniversary. And India needs no reminder; as it sits right at the centre of the story and the sound.
In the album’s plot, 2-D, Murdoc, Noodle and Russel forge passports and land in Mumbai to get away from celebrity life. This trigger is personal. As Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett travelled to India after their father’s demise. Albarn spoke about swimming in the Ganges and immersing his father’s ashes there. The record follows this theme of loss, recovery, and starting again.
The 15 tracks were shaped across Mumbai, Rajasthan and Varanasi, with field recordings and local sessions built into the arrangements. You hear it in “The Happy Dictator” where chant-like loops, drum resonance and circular flute figures power the song. The lyrics move between English, Hindi and several other languages, shifting cadence from track to track.
The guest list is wide, and the credits are clear about who’s steering key moments. “The Happy Dictator” features Sparks. IDLES, Kara Jackson, Yasiin Bey, Black Thought, Johnny Marr, Omar Souleyman and Trueno appear across the record. The India-linked sessions are anchored by Asha Bhosle, Anoushka Shankar and Ajay Prasanna, with sarod players Amaan and Ayaan Ali Bangash also featured. There are posthumous contributions too, including Bobby Womack, Tony Allen and Dennis Hopper.
Western pop has come to India before, from the Beatles’ Rishikesh trip in 1968 to the later big budget ‘Hymn for the Weekend’ video by Coldplay in Mumbai. Often, India was a location or a mere visual gimmick. What makes The Mountain different is it treats India as a lived context: languages, recording choices and arrangements keep pointing back to authenticity rather than cultural appropriation.
Released via the band’s Kong Studios label alongside the House of Kong anniversary exhibition, the album is already being framed as a return to the scale of Demon Days or Plastic Beach. For Indian listeners, the test is direct: if India is the foundation, do the songs carry the weight of that choice?

Today, I decided to speak out publicly online to share the story of my happiness and tell how I found hope again after a very difficult period in my life. Two years ago, my wonderful relationship with my husband fell apart one of the most painful experiences I have ever had to endure. For a long time, I tried various ways to save our relationship, but unfortunately, my efforts were unsuccessful. I felt disheartened and wondered if there was any hope at all of winning my relationship back. Everything changed when I came across a testimonial online about Priest Alaska. The positive experiences described there encouraged me to reach out and seek his advice. I sent him an email, and after communicating with him, I regained hope. I am grateful that I took that step. Today, I am happier and look toward my relationship and the future with confidence. My experience has taught me that one should not give up hope, even when things seem impossible. How Priest Alaska Helped Save Our Relationship and Bring My Fiancé Back.
We were truly happy together, and I never imagined my fiancé would leave me until it actually happened. Back when we were happy, I told him to keep anyone in his circle who wanted to sabotage our relationship in check. He did so and assured me that everyone was happy. However, I saw his family differently; in reality, they lied about me and did everything they could to tear us apart. Consequently, he left me. I never cheated on him, but they told him I was having an affair, and he believed it. My efforts to win him back were unsuccessful until Priest Alaska helped me. He advocated for me, resolved the issues, and ensured my fiancé realized how his sister had manipulated him into forgetting me. I am glad I contacted Priest Alaska; now we are getting married soon and will be together forever. If you would like to contact him, here are his details: Website: https://dralaskaspellcaster.mystrikingly.com. Email: alaskaspellcaster44@gmail.com

I still can’t believe this is real, but I actually won the lottery jackpot! It feels like a dream come true. For years, I would occasionally play without expecting much, just hoping that one day luck would finally be on my side—and it finally happened when I came across a testimony on how Dr Benjamin the great spell caster had helped alot of people win, so I reached out to him, he told me what to do and I followed his instructions, after 48 hours he gave some numbers to play, I did played the numbers as instructed.
The moment I checked my numbers and realized they all matched, my heart started racing. I had to double-check multiple times because I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Winning the Powerball jackpot of $107,000,000,00. This has completely changed my life. It’s given me financial freedom, peace of mind, and the opportunity to support my family and invest in my future. Here are his contact information.

Hello, I want to share my testimony with all of you. I have daily 9 to 5 jobs but while I work, I try my luck at playing instant Lotto. On this particular day, I decided to seek help online regarding tips for winning the lottery and I saw many individuals testifying about Meduza spells. I reached out to him and informed him that I needed help to win the lottery and he clarified the process to me stating that after he casts the spell, it will take 48 hours for him to provide me the winning numbers which I accepted. I followed all his instructions and he provided me with the numbers to enter the Lottery. After the draw the following morning I received a notification on the Lottery app on my phone indicating that I was the lucky winner of $273 million on the New Jersey Lottery and I’m here to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Meduza. I had almost lost hope of getting my wife back. Our marriage had gone through a very difficult period, and no matter how much I tried to communicate or repair the situation, things continued to feel distant between us. I was emotionally exhausted and unsure of what to do next. I came across Priest Alaska online and decided to reach out. From our first conversation, I felt listened too and treated with understanding. I was able to explain everything I had been going through, and I received guidance that gave me a renewed sense of hope. As I followed the guidance I received, I began to notice positive changes. Communication between my wife and me gradually improved, the tension between us became less intense, and we started reconnecting emotionally. Eventually, my wife reached out to me, and we had an honest conversation about our marriage and the possibility of starting over. Today, I am grateful that we have been able to reconnect and work toward rebuilding our relationship. What once felt like a situation with no way forward now feels like a new beginning for both of us. If you are experiencing difficulties in your marriage or relationship, seeking appropriate guidance and support may help you approach the situation with greater clarity and hope.
