Suswara Lakshmi : How M.S. Subbulakshmi became a national icon
Today, the 16th of September, is M.S. Subbulakshmi’s 110th birthday.
In Tamil Nadu, she was MS Amma. At home, as a child in Madurai, she was Kanjumma. Her mother, Shanmukhavadivu Ammal, played the veena and taught her to sing. Her grandmother Akkammal played the violin. She cut her first record at ten years old, praising the goddess Meenakshi of Madurai. She then studied under Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer and Musiri Subramania Iyer.
She went on to sing in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Sanskrit and Hindi, and recorded in English and Japanese. A Tyagaraja kriti and a Meera bhajan came from the same voice without either sounding borrowed.
In the 1945 Tamil film Meera, she played Mirabai, the 16th-century saint-poet from Rajasthan, and the film ran for weeks in Madras. When it released in Hindi in 1947, she played Meera again, a Carnatic singer from Madurai now singing a Rajasthani saint’s poetry to a Hindi-speaking audience.
At Mumbai’s Vikramaditya Festival in 1943, she had already performed Carnatic music alongside bhajans by Mirabai, Tulsidas and Guru Nanak. Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan heard her that night and called her “Suswara Lakshmi.” Her husband, T. Sadasivam, a former freedom fighter turned publisher, was already steering her career past Tamil Nadu’s stages and towards the rest of India.
In 1966, she became the first Indian musician to perform at the United Nations General Assembly, singing “Maitreem Bhajata,” a Sanskrit hymn for peace among nations. In 1974, she received the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Public Service, the first Indian musician to win it.
In 1998, she received the Bharat Ratna, becoming the first musician on a list that until then had gone almost entirely to presidents, prime ministers and scientists. Her concerts by then had funded temples, hospitals and famine relief, over 200 of them given for charity, with royalties from her records handed to causes she believed in.
Her recording of the Venkateswara Suprabhatam, cut for HMV in 1963, became the best-selling non-film record in Indian history. Six decades on, it still plays at dawn in homes and temples across South India, the same voice waking the day it always did.

To win the lottery, one must first achieve a spiritual enlightenment centered on positivity. I consider myself fortunate to have won a staggering $167,300,000 jackpot after contacting a spell casting expert named Priest Alaska. He is incredibly sincere and honest in his work; he opened my eyes to the concept of spirituality. When I expressed my desire to win the Mega Millions, he informed me that winning that draw was not in my destiny; instead, I was destined to win the Powerball something I agreed with. After five days of intense spiritual work, I received the numbers from him and followed his instructions to play the Powerball; to my great surprise, I won the $167,300,000 jackpot. Beware of fraudulent spell casters who claim to be experts but actually know nothing. Priest Alaska is the best choice for obtaining winning lottery numbers. I want everyone to know that finally there’s a cure for herpes virus because I have tested negative twice since I finished drinking a herbal medicine that I ordered from a herbalist called Dr Oyagu through his website (https://oyaguspellcaster.wixsite.com/oyaguherbalhome ) I used to believe there’s no cure for the virus because that’s what they all say until I tried a herbal medicine and now I’m totally cured so I would advise anyone with herpes virus to quickly visit his website and order for the herbal cure as well’ I contacted him through his website then we talked and I provided my address as he requested then I received the medication in less than a week. He is a real traditional herbal medicine doctor.

HOW I GOT BACK MY HUSBAND FROM ANOTHER WOMAN WHO HAD A SPELL ON HIM.
I want to appreciate Doctor Vusi for what he has done for me and my family. I was passing through terrible things. The problem started when my husband return back from work and I discovered that his character has changed and few months after he said he is no more interested again in the marriage and I love my husband so much, all my effort to bring my husband back was abortive. I have concluded that my husband will never come back to me again. But I saw people comments on the net about Dr.Vusi how he has helped them in various ways and then my hope of getting my husband back increased and I contacted Dr Vusi about my issue and he said it is a small thing, I should relax my mind that within 48hours my husband will by himself come back home. I never believe Doctor Vusi because I have be hearing about spiritual power but don’t believe that the power work. To my greatest surprise I saw my husband from the window and I rush-out to meet him and he was crying that he never knew what came over him after seeing a lady outside our marriage. I was very happy and I promise to tell people about great and powerful DOCTOR VUSI Spellcaster who has returned my joy back to me.
