Tariq Shafeeque of Delhi, a structural engineer from the Delhi College of Engineering, specialises in building earthquake resistant buildings. And that's cool. But thats hardly the reason why we at TRC think he is a bit of a Hero. What we're excited about is a range of high end turntables that he has been developing all by himself.
Like most of us Tariq grew up listening to budget turntables. However a chance encounter with a high end Japanese turntable led him to buy and restore a Technics SL 23. This led to a serious hobby of importing and restoring increasingly high end turntables. He would restore one and use it for a few months and then sell it and move on to the next project.
He finally reached a point where he wanted a turntable he couldn't afford. Happens to us all. But unlike the rest of us he decided to build one for himself. After two years of work and many failures he had turntable that pleased him. And he never stopped - how could he?
He now developed a range of 3 spectacular turntables that he builds and markets under EBI Audio (Engineering Beyond Imagination).
We plan to have one for review at our Mahim studio sometime soon.
