The Masquerade: How Angine de Poitrine rewrote the rules of musical identity
Two musicians from Québec have spent the past year becoming one of underground music’s most unlikely success stories. They rarely speak about themselves. Their faces are hidden behind oversized papier-mâché masks. Their songs are titled “Sherpa”, “Tamebsz” and “Yor Zarad”, with many performed in a language that exists only within the band’s mythology.
Yet Angine de Poitrine, French for “angina pectoris,” or chest pain, is attracting the kind of attention independent acts spend years chasing.
Their Live on KEXP session introduced them to a global audience, placing the duo alongside artists launched by the platform. Festival bookings followed, and online forums quickly filled with the same question: who exactly are they? The answer depends on who you ask.
To new listeners, Angine de Poitrine seems to have appeared fully formed. Long-time followers of Québec’s experimental scene tell a different story. Reddit threads, archived concert listings and old performance videos have fuelled a theory that the duo are the latest incarnation of La Poësse, later known as La Poexe, an experimental project from Saguenay built around baritone guitar, drums and theatrical performances. The similarities are striking, though the band has never confirmed any connection.
The masks have become central to that mystery. In interviews, Khn and Klek have explained that the characters were born almost by accident after they were booked to play the same venue twice in one week. Performing anonymously under a different name soon evolved into a fictional universe complete with its own language, costumes and recurring characters.
That world is held together by remarkable musicianship. Khn performs on a custom-built double-neck microtonal guitar, using loop pedals to build dense arrangements, while Klek’s drumming shifts between changing metres without losing momentum. Their music draws from punk, progressive rock, folk and free improvisation, yet resists easy classification.
The masks may have started the conversation, but the originality of the music continues to turn curious listeners into devoted followers.

I want everyone to know that finally there’s a cure for herpes virus because I have tested negative twice since I finished drinking a herbal medicine that I ordered from a herbalist called Dr Oyagu through his website (https://oyaguspellcaster.wixsite.com/oyaguherbalhome ) I used to believe there’s no cure for the virus because that’s what they all say until I tried a herbal medicine and now I’m totally cured so I would advise anyone with herpes virus to quickly visit his website and order for the herbal cure as well’ I contacted him through his website then we talked and I provided my address as he requested then I received the medication in less than a week. He is a real traditional herbal medicine doctor.

I wish the best of luck to everyone reading this comment! Last year, I filed for bankruptcy after several business failures. I used to play the lottery just for fun, but as my financial situation worsened, I sought help to win a major prize; that was when I found a man named Priest Alaska, who has helped countless people around the world with their financial troubles. He cast a powerful spell for me that revealed secret lucky numbers. I played those numbers and, to my surprise, discovered I had won the $209.3 million Powerball jackpot after just 7 months and 14 days exactly as he had predicted. Today, I am debt-free and have various investments around the world. Without Priest Alaska, I would not have overcome the hardships I faced last year. Priest Alaska is truly a divine presence among us. If you are currently facing difficulties in any aspect of your life, contact Priest Alaska using the information below.

Winning a multi million dollar lotto is a life changing event for almost any winner. My name is Billy Hansell from Chicopee, Massachusetts, and I would like to take this opportunity to tell you how I became the famous winner of the $758 million (£591 million) Powerball jackpot. I know many people wonder how I secured this lottery win. Would you believe me if I told you I did it with the help of a spell? I met a famous spell caster named Priest Alaska, and he was the one who made it happen for me. As surprising as it was even to me my famous comment to the press was, “I’m going to go crawl into bed now” I never imagined that Priest Alaska would make me rich overnight. If you, too, want to seize the chance to win big and achieve great wealth just as I did then contact Priest Alaska via email at alaskaspellcaster44@gmail.com or learn more about Priest Alaska on his website: https://dralaskaspellcaster.mystrikingly.com Fortune will smile upon you, too. Thanks for reading I hope to see you at the top.
