How and why did you get into record business?
1930s

How and why did you get into record business?
It was my grandfather who started this saga. During his time He enjoyed collecting and listening to Qawwalis and Sufi Music. He always kept one for his listening and one for the record. After his death, Syed Akbar Shah, my father took over from where he left. He loved Mohd Rafi's Sahabs stance and versatility. During my childhood, I watched my father passionately scroll through his music library and slowly developed an interest as I grew up. In fact, I did not proceed further with my studies as I was getting dangerously close to Vinyl. I'm taking care of the affair ever since my father's death.

What types of records do you keep?
We have Bollywood, hindi, western and english records in all forms ie; 33, 45, 78 speeds.

Have you felt the revival of Vinyl?
That's right, lately new songs have been produced on vinyl and that has revived a surge in record sale.
Tell us a little about your clientele, and How have they changed over the years and Do you get young clients?
Definitely, Clientele is been different from what he had.
Earlier, people asked for 70s to 80s era music, whereas now it's more generic and are pretty much looking for anything, especially Indian Jazz, funk, Psychedelic, disco along with other genres. Although, the young clients are curious about R.D. Burman and Bappi Lahiri. There isn't anything in particular, clients have the tendency to surprise, so we keep all genres handy.
