Unscripted: How Rashmeet Kaur's independent music reveals the artist beyond playback
Most listeners know Rashmeet Kaur through instantly recognisable hooks. Songs like “Bajre Da Sitta” and “Ishq Nachaawe” travelled quickly across platforms and helped define her as a contemporary Punjabi voice. Together, these tracks have crossed hundreds of millions of streams, placing her firmly within the mainstream. But these songs are only part of her story.
Her foundation is slower and more disciplined. Trained in classical music from a young age, Kaur’s riyaaz shapes how she approaches singing. It is not just performance, it is continuity. Her influences trace back to Punjabi Sufi poets like Bulleh Shah and Shah Hussain, where repetition and longing are central. That lineage anchors her independent work.
Her entry through Asia’s Singing Superstar, followed by her win on The Remix alongside Su Real, set the foundation for her playback career, which took off with songs like “Nadiyon Paar” that placed her within the film system. Around the same time, her collaboration “Jadi Buti” with Major Lazer contributed to a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album, expanding her presence globally. These tracks sit within tight, beat-driven arrangements where vocals are structured for clarity, recall, and instant impact.
Her independent catalogue works differently.
On Kaura and in projects like the Musafir Live Sessions, particularly Faqeeran, Kaur shifts her priorities. The songs are slower and less dependent on hooks, focusing on emotional pacing. Faqeeran unfolds without urgency, with a minimal arrangement that lets her voice carry weight.
This is where her influences become audible. The phrasing stretches, melodies circle back, and the songs resist quick resolution. Instead of adapting folk into neat pop structures, Kaur keeps its openness intact. Her voice follows the same approach, less processed and more textured.
These choices point to authorship.
If this is where her intent is most clearly expressed, why does the conversation around her still centre on her most viral work?
Because reach is easier to measure than depth. In Rashmeet Kaur’s case, the quieter songs offer a clearer picture. She is shaping the music she sings.

The United Nations spends $158 billion dollars a year towards research in finding a cure for infection & diseases like tremor, anxiety & depression, psoriasis, shingles, eczema, urethra wart, chronic problems. Herpes, Cancer, ALS, Hepatitis, Diabetes, HPV, Psoriasis, ulcer, respiratory obstruction. They don’t want a cure because there’s no profit in it for them and the pharmaceutical industry let truth be told please, that’s more reason why I venture into herbal treatment, and I was able to cure myself from diseases that they said were incurable medically .Sometimes you don’t always have to give up on everything you do and let someone else decide your fate .Doctor Lucky herbs are very essential and it has the potential to cure the so-called incurable. His contacts are always active. To win the lottery, one must first achieve a spiritual enlightenment centered on positivity. I consider myself fortunate to have won a staggering $167,300,000 jackpot after contacting a spell casting expert named Priest Alaska. He is incredibly sincere and honest in his work; he opened my eyes to the concept of spirituality. When I expressed my desire to win the Mega Millions, he informed me that winning that draw was not in my destiny; instead, I was destined to win the Powerball something I agreed with. After five days of intense spiritual work, I received the numbers from him and followed his instructions to play the Powerball; to my great surprise, I won the $167,300,000 jackpot. Beware of fraudulent spell casters who claim to be experts but actually know nothing. Priest Alaska is the best choice for obtaining winning lottery numbers.
