Ustad Noor Baksh : The Benju Maestro from Balochistan

When it comes to the Benju, no one comes close to Ustad Noor Baksh. He carries forward the legacy established by virtuosos like Bilawal Belgium and Misri Khan Jamali.
It’s strange to think then that the maestro has only recently been getting the recognition that he deserves.

It all happened when Daniyal Ahmed a full-time teacher and musician decided to travel to Balochistan to search for Noor, he would often ask people traveling on the road if they had heard Noor by playing his songs on the flute.
With no address, an old video, and some leads, it was getting more and more difficult to find Noor, Daniyal was just about to give up when he found him.
Waiting on the road, hitchhiking for a ride back to his village was the Benju legend himself.
Everything Changed after this, Daniyal recorded and released Ustad Noor Baksh’s debut album Jingul which took the world by storm.
The album has been getting rave reviews by major international publications like a pitchfork, and the Ustad has been a regular on international festivals like the Boiler Room and Le Guess Who?
All of this is prove one thing, that Ustad Noor Baksh’s music is a timeless masterpiece.
