Mumbai based Hip Hop/Bass artist Paper Queen has been making some serious moves lately, and her DJ skills have seen her playing clubs and festivals all over the world.
Growing up in Dehradun, Nea which is her real name, discovered she had a passion for playing music. Persuaded by friends to become a DJ, her dreams became a reality when she moved to Mumbai. The bustling independent music scene inspired her to explore genres like Drum and Bass, Underground Hip Hop, Reggae, Jazz and Funk, which furthermore initiated her musical journey as a DJ.
With a unique blend of Old and Nu Skool Hip Hop, Grime, Future Beats and Bass Music, a signature Paper Queen set has the right selection of music to receive mass appeal yet retain certain street credibility. Taking influences from artists such as Teeko, DJ Premier, Jon1st and Ivy Lab, her musical creations are hard-hitting, bouncy and engineered for the dance floor.
Known for shelling out mixes on multiple platforms, Paper Queen has delivered NH7 Weekender (62nd Global Bass Chart) and Boxout Wednesdays (17th Global Grime Chart) for Boxout.fm. Paper Queen’s mixes seep through genres like New and Old School Hip Hop, Grime, Deep Dark and Dubby Rap. Tracks blend seamlessly into each other in her sets, and there’s an uncontrollable urge to bob your head along to anything she mixes.
She has been a part of some of India’s premier festivals like Vh1 Supersonic (Pune), Sunburn Festival (Goa), NH7 Weekender (Pune), Goa Sunsplash, Ctrl Alt Dance (Goa), India Bike Week (Goa) and Bass Camp Festival (Chandigarh/ Mumbai).
Paper Queen has supported heavyweight artists on India Tours such as Coki DMZ, Ivy Lab, Natasha Diggs, Sinister, Madam Gandhi, IAMDDB, The Librarian, DJ Squarewave, Anna Morgan, Rider Shafique, Calculon, AMIT and Swindle. She has also worked alongside several major International brands too.
