The Superfuzz: Indian Rock Heroes Who Brought Punk and Grunge To The Country

When one thinks about rock music in the country, most people either think of classic rock like Parikrama and Girish & The Chronicles, Indie rock like Begum, and Peter Cat Recording Co., or more modern hard rock like Thaikkudam Bridge, Parvaaz, and Bloodywood.
There is only one band however that has truly captured the angst and emotion of grunge and punk rock.
Established in 2004, The Superfuzz is a rock band from New Delhi comprising of Sanchal Malhar (guitars/vocals), Nikhil “Rufus” Raj (Bass), and Aditya (drums).
Over the years the band has performed at some of the most prestigious festivals of the country like the Campus rock idols, and Great Indian rock and has even appeared on Channel V’s Launchpad a popular reality contest that was like Indian idol but for rock bands.
While others were trying their best to be technically proficient at their instruments, no one made the audience dance like The Superfuzz, who kept it simple with their brand of raw, primal, punk rock infused grunge rock.
The band has played a pivotal role in shaping the punk rock scene in India, with many new bands embracing The Superfuzz’s approach to songwriting.
